Editorial Policy

The standards and principles that govern how Best Insurance Guide researches, writes, reviews and updates its content.

Last updated: January 1, 2026

Our readers trust us to be honest, accurate and independent. This Editorial Policy explains the standards our writers, editors and reviewers follow for every piece of content we publish.

Independence

Best Insurance Guide is an independent publisher. No advertiser, partner, insurer or affiliate influences our content, rankings, ratings or conclusions. Our editorial team makes every publishing decision on its own, guided solely by what serves our readers.

Accuracy and sourcing

We base our articles on verifiable sources, including insurers' rate filings, regulatory disclosures, financial strength ratings, government data and reputable industry research. Where specific claims are made, we identify the underlying source. We clearly flag estimates and opinions as such.

Expert review

Where content requires specialized knowledge — including life, health, business and specialized coverage — we seek review from qualified professionals with verifiable credentials before publication. Each author profile identifies the writer's role and any credentials on file, and reviewers are credited on request. If a claim has not been reviewed by a credentialed expert, we say so rather than implying it has.

Freshness and updates

Insurance products, rates and laws change. We schedule regular reviews of our evergreen guides and update them when information becomes outdated. Every article displays its original publish date and the date of the most recent update, so you know exactly how current the information is. When a material change occurs, we revise the article rather than silently leaving stale content live.

Corrections

We take errors seriously. When we confirm a factual error, we correct it promptly and note the correction in the article when appropriate. Readers can report errors at any time via our contact page or at corrections@bestinsuranceguide.net.

Transparency and conflicts of interest

We disclose all material relationships that could be perceived as conflicts, including our affiliate relationships. Our writers and editors may not accept payments or gifts that could compromise their objectivity, and they may not publish content about any insurer they hold a financial interest in.

Sponsored content

We do not publish paid articles that are designed to look like editorial content. If we ever produce sponsored or partner content, it will be clearly labeled as such. Our reviews and rankings are never for sale.

Reviews and ratings methodology

Where we rate or rank insurers, we publish a clear methodology explaining the factors we consider — such as coverage quality, cost, claims experience, financial strength and customer satisfaction — and how each factor is weighted.

Our team

Every article identifies its author, and contributor biographies include roles and any credentials on file. You can learn more on our authors page and in our About Us section.
